According to reliable historical records, Maramon Kolathu Annual Family get-together had its roots in the soil of Maramon about two centuries ago, although it has a family history of over five hundred years. A renewed attempt to make it functional annually was launched on April 18 in 1976 under the initiative of the late Rev.P.M.Thomas. The family get-together is now being organized yearly without any break since 1986. Kolathu KudumbaYogam has a constitution of its own and it has been registered, Reg.No.p.115/90, under the name, Kolathu kudumbayogam, Maramon” and its Webpage reference is www.maramonkolathu.org.
In an attempt to bring out a Web Edition of the Kudumbayogam, relevant information from the second edition of the book, Maramon Kolathu Kudumbacharithram (2003) has been used.. The first edition has been brought out in 1992 under the presidentship of Rev.Dr.M.J.Joseph and Adv late Sri.P.T.George Perakath as its Secretary- Treasurer. The second edition was published under the care of Rev.David.V.Titus as president Er.P.George Mathew as Secretary and Mr.K.J.John,Kolathu as treasurer in 2003. The present committee is grateful to all those who have labored hard towards the publication of both the editions.
In the changed context of the present generation with technological know-how, and the diasporic milieu of Maramon Kolathu family, it was felt that the next edition of the Kudumbacharithram would be on the Website in English . A decision was taken accordingly on May 1,2010 in the annual meeting and responsibility was entrusted to the president .
The present Committee decided to revamp the web page by updating the contents and the format to the latest platform, which is desktop and mobile friendly. A link to fill up the family details of all the members is also created so that details and whereabouts of all our family members will be available at our fingertip.
In its preface to the first edition, Dr.Joseph Mar IreaneusEpiscopa ( later Dr Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan), has given credit to the legacy bequeathed to the present generation by its forefathers. His Grace has paid glowing tributes to the family heritage. Thirumeni remarked that Maramon Kolathu Family has made its imprints on the sands of time with yeoman humanitarian service . The family has left its indelible marks in all the branches of medical science. It has a tradition of its forefathers with unblemished character who were not avaricious and had maintaintained high ethical standards in acquiring wealth. In its introductory remarks of the first edition, the then president, Rev.Dr.M.J.Joseph quoted Ps.78.1-4 reminding the responsibility of the present generation and had briefly outlined activities of the Kudumbayogam. He had exhorted the family members to lead a life worthy of the gospel of Jesus Christ and had expressed his desire that they would manifest the power of love in family relationships and social engagements.
